Course Description: This 7-week asynchronous Honors-level course introduces students to the foundations, applications, and ethical considerations of Artificial Intelligence. Through engaging multimedia lessons, creative projects, and real-world case studies, students will explore how AI is shaping modern life — from personalized recommendations and creative tools to healthcare and education.
Students will learn to think critically about the opportunities and challenges AI presents, including bias, misinformation, automation, and equity. Weekly knowledge checks, discussion boards, and design activities will guide them in reflecting on AI’s impact and imagining their own role in an AI-powered future.
By the end of the course, students will complete a capstone project that demonstrates their understanding of AI concepts and their personal perspective on its ethical use and potential.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Define and apply key terms and concepts related to artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Analyze the role of AI in various industries and everyday life.
Evaluate ethical challenges and implications of AI development and use.
Communicate clearly about AI through writing, media, and project-based learning.
Design and build simple AI tools using no-code platforms.
Present a final project demonstrating synthesis of knowledge and application of AI for good.

This course is recorded on the student’s CCHS transcript but does NOT counts towards the student's GPA. This is a dual enrollment course with the opportunity to earn 3 undergraduate credits from Adams State University. The cost of the three (3) credit dual enrollment option is $195.00. Payment for the college credits is made directly to the college by the student. Students will not be able to retroactively apply for dual enrollment. Dual Enrollment with ASU is optional.
Marist Students:
This course is recorded on the student’s Marist transcript but does NOT counts towards the student's GPA. This is a dual enrollment course with the opportunity to earn 3 undergraduate credits from Adams State University. The cost of the three (3) credit dual enrollment option is $195.00.
